Sigmar's Last Hope (this is a long one)
« on: January 15, 2009, 10:00:00 PM »
I've been back and forth a number of times now and have gone through too many ideas. I actually want to build/paint some  minis so have decided on my army (yay for me :eusa_clap:)

after seeing Otaku's amazing Sigmarite army I am sold - I thought what would happen if the forces of chaos surged forth and almost conquered the empire - Time for one last stand!!  I think this senario would involve the emperor fronting up with his best troops plus the various Orders of Sigmar emptying the coffers & loading up with full force.

This is a 10,000 point army which I believe is legal - Who knows how well it would do in an actual WF battle but it sounds cool to me so i'm happy with it. I plan on starting it now as I know it will take forever to complete an army this size - I should be pretty darn good at modeling/painting once I have finished it all.

A couple of notes: All units have a Warrior Priest or Special character assigned to them (except the Flaggelants who have prophet of doom, the huntsman & the artillery). The State troops are supplied by the emperor & all the Free company & Archers are 'pious villagers/mercenaries).

If there's anything thats not legal please let me know - This army may never see a battle field but who knows??. If there are any 'fluff' concerns speak now or forever hold your peace  :biggriin:

Also  - just work out how many dispel dice there are! (+ the dispel scroll) :smile2:

EDIT:  Removed list & added new list further down - thanks for the advice guys

OMG, I have never seen so many warrior priests in one list  :-D. Looks pretty good, but I wouldnt have 11 outriders in one unit, no matter how many points I have to spend. You dont happen to have a link to that sigmarite army you spoke of?  :smile2:

Slight edit - found out the KNights of the fiery heart are the Grand Theogonist's personal bodyguard - so bye bye 'The Hammers of Sigmar'

Opps - Just realized some of my Warrior Priests had Arcane items - that's a no-no.  Will wait a little for any more moments before uploading an adjusted list.

Well, in general I would encourage you to not take marksman upgrades for any infantry shooting unit except for handgunners...but at 10,000 points I guess it doesn't really matter.

The units themselves are good and big, which is good for an army of this size.

One of your warrior priests is wearing mundane heavy armor and the gilded armor which is redundant.  Can't use both.  And as an add on for one of them, the Rod of Command is such a nice kick in the pants to an enemy who thinks you're going to run away.  I love that thing, just rarely ever able to take it.
Me and Wissenlander had babies!

finding photographic evidense that Wiss smiles is going to be hard...

Cheers for the info Wissenlander.  :::cheers:::
Nice to have another few sets of eyes - It would be difficult to fit into 2 sets of armour wouldn't it.  I understand about the marksman advice but I really only put them in so I can have a little extra flair in the unit when I model it.

Rod of command added - had some points left after removing those Arcane items. Will post new list soon.

If the only reason that crossbow unit is there with the handgunners is to get some shooting in the game, I would break it up into 6/7 man second detachments for the parent other infantry blocks including the greatswords.

Why not full command on those knights? I haven't seen the War Banner being used - I'd give it to the IC knights. - That's 1+CR for less than the cost of an additional knight.

A Dragon Bow on  BS3 priest? I'd drop that.

You also have a priest with the hammer of battle and a second hammer - that doesn't work. The magic weapon will supersede any other weapon.

You already noted the Staff of Sorcery and Seal of Destruction as having to be removed.

(Oh, and it's "Prophet of Doom" not "Profit of Doom" )

I am thinking purely from a display perspective with them - Crossbows lined up with gunners either side, as a long firing line protecting the artillery.

Why not full command on those knights? I haven't seen the War Banner being used - I'd give it to the IC knights. - That's 1+CR for less than the cost of an additional knight.
Think you're right on the full command - extra modeling possibilities - Is the War Banner the Battle Standard?? if so Ludwig Schwarzhelm carries it - if that's not what you me can you clarify please. thanks

A Dragon Bow on  BS3 priest? I'd drop that.
I know - but I just want to model it - Something different (especially after doing over a dozen WPs)

You also have a priest with the hammer of battle and a second hammer - that doesn't work. The magic weapon will supersede any other weapon.
Hmmmm - so you saying that if you have a one handed magic weapon you can't have a second hand weapon?  I think the Hammer of Battle would be one handed anyway? Maybe I'm wrong on that.

You already noted the Staff of Sorcery and Seal of Destruction as having to be removed.
Check!

(Oh, and it's "Prophet of Doom" not "Profit of Doom" )
Opps :icon_redface: I've been doing paperwork for my accountant

Thanks for all the input  :::cheers:::

Just had a re-read over the rule book about Magic Weapons - You're right about it - If you have a magic weapon of any sort you can't have another weapon - thanks for picking that one up.

How about some Captains instead of WPs in with those Archers? Would fit your theme, because I can't see KF heading of to battle without at least a few underlings to command the troops. Plus the BS5 would be useful for a few extra shots, whereas the hatred won't really benefit the Archers (if they're in combat, you've got a bit of a problem).

The War Banner is a 25 point magic standard from the BRB common items magic list. It add 1+CR to all combats. It's an addon and is not the BSB standard.

OK - thanks for the input so far - Quite a few changes made - Ripped out all the archers (decided i wanted to be a bit more hard hitting (as these guys are supposed to be fitting again the powerful forces of chaos) & S3 bows are pretty average - A few less warrior priests now but added some Captains with the shooty units & a couple of Generals as lone hunters. This is looking fun - also randomized the numbers in the Free Companies & Flagellants as I thought it was more realistic then uniform numbers.
