Leonardo Da Vinci's tank model
« on: December 29, 2009, 09:45:03 PM »
I thought this might interest people on here. Black Army Productions is planning to release a 28mm resin model of Leonardo's original Steamtank.

It's not finished, but there are a few pictures of the WIP:

I made some changes and built the tank as a mixture of the various images that can be found of Leonardo's original... I also slapped on some black wash to make the wood grain more visible  ;)

There are six gunholes in the lower hull, which might not be historically accurate but fit in nice imho.

More info on the model and it's progress can be found on the Forum Noir: http://blackarmy.activeboard.com/index.spark?aBID=133251&p=3&topicID=32913323

I would be interested in seeing a figure or ruler in a photo to get an idea of scale.

didn't someone make his own stank that looked exactly like the one above and post it on this forum?

Indeed, but that's no surprise as it was also based on Da Vinci's designs.

Tobsen posted a small update (still WIP) with a 28mm figure (not GW but Artizan, they're close in scale):

Correct bies, King made a tank like it. And of course you thought Leonardo di Miragliano, because he = Da Vinci, hence the tanks are similar also.

As seen on the Lead Adventure Forum:

Hi... I finished it. I thought about adding rivets or nails but imho that wouldn't fit the "original".

Diameter is 8cm, height is 7cm.

Cheers,
Tobi

Is that a U-boat commander with the tank?

Yes, one of the Artizan ones. It's there for scale (guess he didn't have something more appropriate for the period).
