MY OTHER ARMY. MIDDENHEIM (More stuff)
« on: November 16, 2009, 11:04:40 PM »
I was asked to post pics of these guys so here they are first.
Some of them have some alterations, some of the first I ever tried.

I painted these guys about, wow, 10 years ago now.

...And an old classic.  I must have painted this guy close to 15 years ago.  I would like to take the paint off and repaint him with colors that dont look like they belong in a baby crib.
I dont know what I was thinking

Thanks very much Otaku, I experimented a bunch of red/ white combos on some old horse heads, yours are the best I've seen.

Nice work on the horsemen.  The pegasus rider looks fine to me.  I think 023 has some units wearing lots of white and blue and they look good to me in the pictures.

There is one thing about those classic super bright color schemes from the mid 1990s though . . .

They actually make armies look incredible from a distance.

 Thanks guys.

as far as the pegasus goes, WHat I was cemmenting on was that I regreat my color choices.  The light yellow, light blue, and light purple arent exactly tough looking.  For somereason the paint wont come off either.  I cant remember what kind I used.  Maybe im just not trying hard enough.  Im not going to bother anymore though because I want to make a new one... some day soon... hopefully.  So much to do :|

 ::heretic::

Ulric? Seriously?

All kidding aside, they look great. I have one thing to say about the peggie though: you shouldn't have given him griffon wings. He looks a tad ridiculous now.

I can never tell when you are being serious when your talking about pegusi. Those were the wings it came with and well before the bretts had any.

They weren't the original wings.

I have the old pegasus, and the old griffin (Karl Franz') and they were slightly different wings, but both were 'straight'.
The ones on your model look like the set from the Ed.6 EC on griffin model with the curve.

(Unless someone has gently bent them?)

No those are the wings it came with, the High Elves came with the same wings that Karl Franz Griffon's had and the High Elves Griffins Rider (special character?) had the longer straight wings wow if that makes any seance

Sorry I stick by what I said with evidence:

http://www.solegends.com/marauder/mb15impheropegasus.htm

argument over.

http://www.solegends.com/citcat9x4/c93537-03.htm

was Karl Franz.

Wings were metal - I actually swapped them over between the models as the old pegasus ones were bigger, so I felt they belonged on the 'bigger' griffin.

Those curves are there because I bent the wings... on purpose. They are supposed to be flapping instead of just sticking stright up in the air. Even way back then I always wanted to make my big models unique somehow and since I didnt know how to use greenstuff, i bent stuff  :icon_confused:  Im sure those are the wings it came with. Maybe GW made a mistake and put in the wrong wings but thats what I got.    I still like these wins better than the tiny wings you get with the Belthizar model and old griffon.

Those are definitely the pegasi wings, not the old deathclaw wings. You can tell both by the shape (the wings in Otaku's picture lack the 'hump' of the deathclaw wings) and the length/arrangement of the feathers on the ends of the wings.
