I'm currently taking painting commissions and drawing commissions at the moment.

Thanks - that's one of the items I'm struggling with (ok - the main item).  I want the "creamy" color, but I'm at a loss for, as you say, defining it in such a way that I don't lose it.  Perhaps some very light grey lines (similar to the arms)?

@Slick - thanks - its like finding buried treasure as I go through my "collection" - "Wow, I didn't know I had this!" type stuff.

@Marius - thank you also - how did you know about halflings?  Do I have wanted posters in the Moot as I tend to treat them horribly?

Update:

Few more test models...

@zak - thank you - I'm really looking forward to sinking my teeth into this project.  Working on assembling some additional troops on sprue at the moment.

What is the best way to assemble the old school halbrediers?  I seem to have arms at every which angle with some "pairs" - some huge gaps and such - so any hints would be most welcome!

Oooo, lots and lots of classic models! Me like! The halfling dudes are great! And excellent white on those handgunners! The feather look a little too deeply shadowed, though.

Well done! Keep up the good work!  :::cheers:::

Haven't looked at this thread in quite awhile.  Really like seeing the older models! :icon_biggrin: :icon_cool: :::cheers:::

@Shadowwolf  - thank you for your feedback (a while ago I know).  Its been a while since I have painted any empire troops, but I have gathered more to my army though!  I expect to get back to empire within the next couple of weeks!

@QuelloCheFu  - thank you also!

@GamesPoet  - thanks - I rather enjoy the older models myself - something about them reminds me of the "good old days" perhaps?

@Boldrick - that is a halberdier reiksmarshal from the days of yesteryear.  Does great now as a unit champion I think.  :)

Slow and steady wins the race....

Empire Update (I painted something for this army!  Not sure about the guy with the all blue eye though - how did that happen?):

For white, you may want to consider Warhammer Lord Soth's magic wash.

It uses Vallejo Matte Medium (Transparent Raw Umber Hue), mixed with lots of water.

(It may take a few tries to get the mix right, but since you only have two ingredients, just add more water if it's too dark or more paint if it's too light).

Basecoat white and brush the mix on, and allow it to dry (it'll lighten as it dries).  Then go back over the model with ivory on the high spots.  This is how he gets the white on his troopers looking so good (like you, his guys go to battle in white pajamas too).

I've used this technique on my own troops, but the pix I have don't show it off very well.  The sunlight tends to wash out the subtle shading of the raw umber hue.  But if you check out WHL Soths army blog (probably on the second or 3rd page of the brush and pallet), you'll see it in full effect.

Desperately seeking Chaos Warrior heads & Skull banner tops from new empire missle troops sprue.  Will trade for bitz, barter, or $$$.  PM or email me to discuss details.
