How to submit your fluff in battle reports
« on: June 19, 2007, 01:48:32 PM »
Courtesy of the guys at Da Warpath.  Questions on how to submit fluff and answers from the Head Narrator.

Is there a format that would be more helpful to you guys? Like "Headline plus two or three paragraphs" or bullet-point summaries? Anything we can do to make your job easier....

>Probably bullets, summaries etc, just to give me a heads up.

Will your "staff"  be reading battle reports posted with results?

>The global web team will be reading them, and passing the most interesting on - my advice would be to keep things short and sweet if you want it to get noticed!

Quick battle reports in the form of 'messages' to a superior will still work, and that's what I plan on doing.  Seems more characterful than bullet points.  But, do what you are comfortable with.

I think what they want is (possibly) full reports and stories, but a brief bullet point synopsis at  the beginning. I'll probably be doing something along those lines.
So, Ostmarkers wear purple, but it's manly purple, not like that Bretonnian purple.

Wiss, do you think you could give us a little example so we know what to do?

Sounds like a good idea, we could try and get all of us to post in the same style with reference to Helstrom's 4th in the heading.  If they all look the same (at least the heading) then the GW staff 'readers' will be more likely to recognise us as as a group.

I've got a sample done for Druchii.net. The format still works. Anyone want me to cross post it?

Wissenlander, please send me your example, as I was about to right up a tutorial kind of thing for multiple varied items in the campaign. THanks.

Other than that i'll lock the thread as the info is now out there.

Here's my example:

General Helstrom,

After hearing reports from the folk of Auenwaldheim I decided to take a contingent of my best men out on patrol to investigate claims of these 'evil' Dwarfs.  Upon approaching a destroyed caravan, we discovered no evidence of the Dwarfs but found horrid dung piles piled high and effigies desecrating a small shrine to Taal on the side of the road.

We were ambushed by a vast horde of goblins, from all directions.  After great skill and many heroics from the Hunters of Sigmar, my men beat back the numerous greenskins but with terrible loss in life.  We return with all haste to Auenwaldheim to resupply and tend to the wounded.

Try not to hit on too many thing in one report it will get confusing.  My initial report that I sent to Jerok had mentionings of a Dwarf Gyrocopter as well.  If you can put other forums' fluff goals in without making it awkward or long, then go for it.

Also, here's a link to Da Warpath and multiple examples: http://z3.invisionfree.com/Orc__Goblin_Warpath/index.php?showtopic=18976
