DoW Special Characters - Johann / Wilhelm

Where can we find the rules for the DoW Special characters?

I looked in the DoW list, and the RoR list, and it has no entries for the DoW Special Characters, or Wilhelm / Johan.

Why have these been overlooked?

Cool, thanks Keith.

Ok, on to the main question...

Johann and Wilhelm. What do people think about these characters? Keep in mind that Wilhelm's rules would be updated to be a 7th ed WP, are these guys worth 350 pts? I'm thinking not, but they do look pretty cool....

keith may also be right, but my copy of the rules came from the Annual 2002, which I found on eBay.

I would say vs chaos and VC (TK to some extent) go for it, many VC characters cost more than 350pts and there you have 2 characters that can basically 3 S8 and 2 S6 hits, combined with the prayers (hammer of sigmar and armour of contempt come to mind) and the potential to kill vampires outright (which won't be too difficult with S8, even 1+ armour becomes 6+ and you wound on a 2+) if you charge them cast HoS, if you get charged cast AoC.

Even against normal undead and daemons the auto wound staff and S8 stake will butcher tough units like grave guard and blacks knights, as well as daemons. The only immediate downside is total lack of any save unless you cast AoC.

You sure? The DoW and RoR rules are in 2002 but not the DoW special characters (at least not my copy).

As to the Witch Hunters, I used to take them now and then with my crusade army for flavor but they usually were not worth the points I spent on them.

I did once get to drive a stake in a Necarch vampaire count though, that was really cool.  :icon_biggrin:

The rules for Witch Hunters are in the Warhammer Annual 2002.

I always thought that these guys were one of the coolest regiments from the Dogs of War line.

Although, they are best against Undead and Daemons (of course), I still think that they are simply a cool and fluffy unit to include in any Empire army. I'd say go for it!

Note also that they are not Special Characters, they are a regiment of renown.

Unfortunately all of the Warhammer Chronicles Annuals have been scrapped as the FAQs in them are out of date. This has meant the loss of some great material which is not available the GW site.

I am positive they are in the Annual 2002, page 119 is a single page detailing the rules for Johann and Wilhelm by Alessio Cavatore. They are seperate from the actual RoR and DoW rules.

They do look good, certainly.

But would I ever think about fielding them, something in my head would jump up and down angrily, shouting: "350 pts. for two M4 models that can't join other units? Are you crazy or what??"

And it would probably be right.
